scuze me

olive is so polite. we gave her food that she asked for (as in-- more more peas) and she says 'sank yu daddio'. she also says 'scuze me gus' or 'scuze me mommio' or 'scuze me chair' when she needs/wants to get by. she also, on the other hand, is really into the whole 'no pinching daddy's face' meaning 'pinch daddy's face while laughing hysterically'. hilarious. we take her away from whatever it is she's not supposed to do, and she basically just shrugs it off. it's adorable, but man oh man. we got the book 'positive discipline' and it's awesome, so i'm not frustrated by her testing-- it's kind of wonderful--she wants to do so much! especially, and most importantly, she wants to eat strawberries. she would eat them all day without stopping if we didn't put a limit on them. we've also been giving them to her for months, but i swear this weekend, with the first organic farmers market strawberries-- she has tasted her first REAL strawberries. heaven.

Songs we sing to O and songs she sings...

She sings everything. I don't know where to begin.
She's starting to write her own songs-- lots of repetition. Some droning sounds when putting baby to bed last night-- she sang for big baby--"Baaaaaaa-beeeeee, baaay-beeee, etc" 2 1/2
Really into Head Over Heels by the Go-Gos. Is into the fact that 'the band is called the Go-Gos, the song is called Head Over Heels" 2 1/2
She loves Siouxie and the Banshees, and when she plays her two drums, she will say, "that's Siouxie and the Banshees" 2 1/2
Sings Pavement's Cut Your Hair, the first 4 lines. 2 1/2
She can sing the entire Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer song and adults other than us can understand it.2 1/4
2 years old--P is for Poopie, that's good enough for me! (Gets crazy laughs)
2 years old--Goo goo gaa gaa goo goo gaa gaa I'm a little baaay-beeee!
the birds in the trees are going to sleep all night, the flowers and the leaves are going to sleep all night, the beetles and the bees are going to sleep all night, and in the morning they'll sing "good morning, Adylene! Olive bean! We love you more than anything! Night-time doesn't hurt and sleep doesn't sting, so at night-time you really oughta sleep!" we sing to her, we wrote it, since 2 months.
one robin, two cardinals, three morning doves, four phoebes, five goldfinches, six wrens, seven hummingbirds, eight sparrows and nine---warblers, ten chickadees, in a straight line.
Blue birds, smiling at me, nothing but blue birds do i see. sweet dreams, all the night long, nothing but sweet dreams, from now on. Bright smiles come with the sun, lots of sweet bright smiles from my little one.
