Brunch with the Shulls

Sitting on Daddy's lap

Looking like Aunt Carrie!
With Grandma & Grandpa Shull, standing tall.
Looking towards Grandpa, and the light.
Happy Grandma, happy baby!

Grandma and Grandpa Burch visit

I'd call my dad a pacifist, but here he is showing Olive some boxing moves. I think they'd like to teach her self-defense at as early of an age as possible. Sweet!

What a beautiful Grandma, eh?
Bummed, and not sure why. How much more love could she be getting???
Checking out her toy in Grandma's hand. Why's it over there and not in my mouth??
Now she's a happy toy-face.

Lots of maybes

Olive loves to test her voice when she's put down for a nap. She rarely (lately) cries, rather, she just starts talking and talking. Maybe she's just trying to see if she can talk as much as mommy is talking to her all...day...long... Maybe she's talking to her little lamb? There's a bird lamp/mobile that hangs over her crib and bathes the room in a blue light (maybe the light is soothing?) and she sings herself to sleep. Andy took this photo while she was sleeping with her lamb in reach, in the blue light. The camera was set on vibrant, so it's a seriously blue and orange photo! Our little blueberry!

Supersleeper!

Wow. It may never happen again, but O slept 10 hours last night- from 8 pm to 6 am, then back to sleep from 6:30-7:30 after an early breakfast! Super sleeper! Meanwhile, she's up from a 'nap' that lasted about 5 minutes...gotta go.

The snuggle

So maybe this is going to just be about her sleep habits for a while...she's sleeping in the crib, and while i'm sad, i'm hoping that she will sleep better (and us, too). Olive is smiling so much and making these great coy looks then snuggles into our chests. Her room is all set up for her now, but I swear I love having her with us more than anything. I think it helps that I'm with her so much of the time. She's doing this great scooting (calling her 'Scooter') on her back, and she's rolled over four times now! It's easiest for her to roll over from her belly to her back if she's fallen over from sitting (all happening on the cushy bed). It's amazing to watch her roll and be somewhere between shocked at herself and proud of herself. Getting ready to start putting away tiny clothes already, which is sad sad sad. It's exciting, though, that with the weather (hopefully) getting better, she's going to be starting to wear those fabulous dresses. I guess around the house with me! I'll get dressed up with her and we'll play pattycake. Everything is fun with her! She's got strong legs and is standing up on my lap holding my hands a lot. She's quite the little dancer too, as when I dance around with her, she just smiles and seems to really love it. I'm getting mixed cds from a bunch of mamas with great songs from "Nature Anthem" by Grandaddy, to "Let the Good Times Roll" by the Cars, to "She's Like a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones. So many more songs than I could possibly list. I am still singing "Baby's Boat" and "Winken, Blinken and Nod" each night to her, though, as I have since she was in utero. She seems to recognize those songs as super-comfort songs, as they were for me when Grandmommy used to sing them to me to go to sleep. Speaking of sleep...Good night!

How did you get so big?

When did you get so big?

Olive keeps waking up in her cosleeper sideways, and it's breaking my heart. She's in the 97% for size, so it's no wonder that she's hardly able to fit in the mini-bed beside our bed. She's taking a nap now, just snoozing all spread out in her crib. Maybe we'll try the crib soon overnight? AAAACK! I think I'll cry more than she will, she's so chill. We played the scoot game today, where she pushes with her feet off my hands, and she scoots all the way off the blanket she's laying on. What is this new mobility? Yesterday, while we were out at Target, O got a few comments, with the most common being, "You look like the Gerber baby!" coming from a sweet lady in the canned beans aisle. At least she didn't reach out and touch her...
