scuze me

olive is so polite. we gave her food that she asked for (as in-- more more peas) and she says 'sank yu daddio'. she also says 'scuze me gus' or 'scuze me mommio' or 'scuze me chair' when she needs/wants to get by. she also, on the other hand, is really into the whole 'no pinching daddy's face' meaning 'pinch daddy's face while laughing hysterically'. hilarious. we take her away from whatever it is she's not supposed to do, and she basically just shrugs it off. it's adorable, but man oh man. we got the book 'positive discipline' and it's awesome, so i'm not frustrated by her testing-- it's kind of wonderful--she wants to do so much! especially, and most importantly, she wants to eat strawberries. she would eat them all day without stopping if we didn't put a limit on them. we've also been giving them to her for months, but i swear this weekend, with the first organic farmers market strawberries-- she has tasted her first REAL strawberries. heaven.

up for it all

so far, there's nothing olive doesn't want to try. recently, at our friends' wedding-- we went canoing on the 'boat!boat!boat!' on the 'water, lake, river' and went out under the 'choo choo bridge' and didn't even get 'wet'. she sat at the table for almost two hours just eating everything during the reception, and other than being that baby that is yelling about something happily during the ceremony and speeches, she was wowing a bunch of folks with her crazy vocabulary. i met one dad who said, 'oh! this is the circle and line hair baby!' as in, this is the child that everyone is talking about because she meets you, points to your hair and says, "hair. peoples. circle." or "line hair". one mom said that she didn't know what a bright kid was until she met olive. seriously, i know we have a great girl, but it was pretty amazing how amazing she was all weekend. in the car on the way home, during a one hour traffic stand still, she was just hanging out, chatting and chillin.
she's certainly getting more bossy as her vocab grows, like when she wakes up in the morning- it's: 'out. hold you (cause i often say, do you want me to hold you?) up. eat. kitchen. kitties. high chair in. strawberries. spoon. yogurt. eat more more yogurt. strawberries. strawberries. mommy-o sit chair. daddy-o chair."

she's starting to give away anything she doesn't like to eat-- so far it's really only onions and zucchini. 'mommy-o eat'. guess i am the garbage disposal.

she drinks without the sippy lid all the time now too-- 'off! top off!'

other key words: san-box. outside. inside. peoples up and down. she also counted to 13 this past weekend, and said almost all of the letters of the alphabet. now whenever she sees words, she points and says letters and picks out most of the letters she knows-- a, e, i, o, u, w, s, r, x, y.

she also is telling us when she needs to poop, vs when she has a 'pooty booty'. i came up with that one, and it's freakin cute when she says it. if she has a poop, then she'll say 'poop' then 'diaper change' and she'll head towards her room. we'll go into the room and she'll ask for 'tickle powder' (just cornstarch powder). She also says 'privates' and grabs her goods. she actually will sit on the potty a little bit lately, too, but won't actually use it, though she'll give me toilet paper if i need it. very helpful.
